tola oseni is a NYC-based Art Director and Designer/Illustrator, whose work explores stories that come out of the intersection of music, culture, and experience.
Historically, art in gallery spaces has been exclusive and elitist. Whereas, music, often called “the universal language”, has a strong relationship to the folk tradition and an ability to connect communities.
Using music as a tool in an art and design framework, Oseni’s work imagines how audio can be encoded as a visual image. Focusing less on fine art, and more on music videos, digital, handheld, and print-based work, she brings people in by working outside of the “gallery”, a privileged site of representation.
Oseni is a University of Southern California alumna with a B.A. in Graphic Design and a ONE School NY ‘21 graduate. Tola hopes to become a Creative Director who will redefine who is heard in mainstream media + advertising.
